کتاب نظریه‌پردازی تازه و رادیکالی در زمینۀ رابطۀ میان سرمایه و معماری به دست می‌دهد. نویسنده موضع نظرورزانه‌ای را توضیح می‌دهد که از طریق آن معماری: به خدمت نئولیبرالیسم درآمدن را مشروع می‌کند؛ ایجاد جایگاه‌هایی برای مصرف‌کنندگانی راضی و سازگار را می‌آزماید؛ و از تصویر کارآفرینانۀ خود سرپیچی می‌کند. همچنین در این کتاب به گفتمان خودبنیادی معماری پرداخته می‌شود و با پرسش از ظرفیت آن برای تعامل مؤثر با شرایط و ضوابط سرمایه‌داری امروز، چرخش‌های فراسیاسی نظریۀ معماری معاصر بررسی و تحلیل می‌شود، ضمن اینکه میراث و محدودیت‌های نظریۀ انتقادی را در نظر می‌گیرند.
